Happy Father’s Day
New dads, old dads, granddads, dads-in-law, stepdads, serious dads, goofball dads, uncles that take on the roles of dads…There must be a million fatherly types out there, and without a doubt, there are at least that many reasons to honor them on Father’s Day.
I’ve got an awesome dad, both a teacher (literally) and a friend. I try to emulate him in as many ways as possible so that my boys will say the same of me in the years to come.
Just like Mother’s Day, it’s a great holiday to just say “thanks” for all the things that are/were done for us on a day-to-day basis, that we often overlook, or sometimes forget. Maybe the relationship is great, maybe it wasn’t. Maybe you can say thanks face to face, or maybe it’s a phone call or a prayer. No matter the circumstance, use the holiday as a time to reflect and say thanks for the influence paternal figures have played in our lives. Surely, we all wouldn’t be who are today without the experiences given to us.
For me, it’ll be a weekend full of steaks and seafood, lots of time together and end with a bit of Sunday night quoiting between my father, brother, cousin and I. Just as we done it for the last few years, less my “other Dad” this year who we hope is resting easy up above.
Have a great holiday everyone!
